Founder & CEO of ChartScout
Cryptocurrency trader since 2013. Four complete market cycles. Built ChartScout to solve a problem I faced every day.
I'm Stjepan Ivanović, the founder of ChartScout. I bought my first Bitcoin in 2013 for around $200. Since then, I've navigated four complete bull and bear market cycles, watching the crypto space evolve from niche forums to a global phenomenon.
Back in 2013, I registered on Mt.Gox, BTC-e, and Bitstamp. Mt.Gox collapsed. BTC-e got seized by the FBI in 2017. Only my Bitstamp account survived from that era. If you remember those exchanges, you know what kind of market we were dealing with.
I also traded on the first on-chain exchanges: IDEX, EtherDelta, and ForkDelta. Centralized order books with on-chain settlement. That was DeFi before anyone called it DeFi.
My trading style started with scalping on 1-5 minute charts. Later I combined it with swing trading. When you're serious about trading, it takes over your life. I was spending 12-15 hours a day watching charts. Many nights I would wake up twice just to check the markets.
I've invested in around 70 crypto projects over the years. My first investment was Monaco through Bittrex, which later rebranded to Crypto.com. Some worked out. Many didn't. That's how it goes.
In 2021, I built a Python-based NFT trading bot for OpenSea. Did well with it. 2023-2024 were heavy on airdrops and meme coins. The market keeps shifting. What worked last cycle rarely works the same way in the next one.
I wanted a crypto pattern scanner that would alert me when a pattern is forming. Real-time crypto pattern alerts, not delayed notifications that arrive after the move already happened. I had wanted this since 2017. In 2024, I finally decided to build it.
Before starting ChartScout, I bought access to every competitor I could find. Some tools were too complex. Others looked promising but didn't give me any actual edge when I used them in practice. The patterns they detected either came too late or weren't accurate enough to act on.
I couldn't find a tool that did what I needed: detect patterns early, across many pairs, with alerts fast enough to actually trade on. I was tired of waking up at night to check charts. I wanted a 24/7 crypto chart scanner that would watch for me. So I decided to build it.
After more than a decade in the markets, trading has taught me lessons that go far beyond charts and indicators. Here's what I believe matters most.
I always wanted to be my own boss and I'm very competitive. Trading is a place where I'm my own boss. Every action has a reaction.
Patience is the most important thing to have. Without patience, all is for nothing.
It's important to stay humble. If you win a trade it doesn't mean you won the war.
Trading is a path to self-discovery. The biggest battles are actually with myself.
As a trader, I never wanted to have any social media. The only important thing as a trader is to beat the market. Not to brag or share opinions. Everyone has an opinion.
It's also important to go with the flow. Markets move in cycles, trends shift, and opportunities come and go. Fighting the current only drains energy. Adapt, stay flexible, and let the market guide your next move.
What's the point of making money if you never enjoy it? Spend it on experiences, not just accumulation. Travel a lot. See the world. The best ROI in life comes from the memories you make, not the numbers on a screen.
The more you learn, the more you understand that you know very little.
It's incredibly important to never stop learning. Every day you need to learn something new to keep your mind in top shape.
